Hank the Hippo

Hank the Hippo

Things have been quiet around these parts the past week. I’ve had lots of stuff I wanted to post, but just haven’t had the time. I’ve been busy with reading, studying for a work exam, and…Hank!

I started teaching myself to crochet last year, and have really enjoyed experimenting with various patterns for scarves, hats, and the occasional throw blanket. But then last week I discovered amigurumi, little crocheted stuffed toys. And after a deep dive down an Etsy rabbit hole (one of my favorite activities), I had downloaded several patterns and picked this adorable little hippo as my first project. The pattern can be found in TheCrochetCodeAU‘s shop. It’s super easy to put together, using only single crochet, basic increases and decreases, and magic circles (which I’ve finally mastered). And the best part is that Boy #2 said he wanted to learn to crochet and start his own little project (Hamish the Highland Cow, which is beyond adorable). So this mom has gotten to spend some quality time with her kid while sharing one of her favorite hobbies. It doesn’t get much better than that. ❤️❤️❤️
