News of the Week 6/9/23

We all know that the major news this week was…

…the Canadian wildfires that have been blanketing the East Coast with smoke and yellow skies. Many people got out their Covid masks again to keep from inhaling the nasty air, and everyone got a crash course in air quality levels and what an AQI is. Around here we topped out in the low 200s.

But you know I always try to find the lighter side of the news, and this week brought us a tale of two (er, three) ducks…

Does anyone else remember the giant ducks that were in the harbor in Hong Kong about a decade ago? They’re back! I remember it being a big story at the time, and frankly I’m rather offended that it’s been ten years already because it seems like it was just a couple of years ago, but then again I’m old.

Meanwhile, off the coast of England, three men had to be rescued after floating far away from shore in a giant inflatable duck.

IDK, maybe the duck wanted to go to Hong Kong to see its friends??

And this week’s feel-good story comes from New Jersey, where a magician is doing tricks for shelter dogs to help them get adopted. All together now…”Awwwwwww!” 🥹

That’s it for this week! See you back here with more news next Friday!
