Gettysburg National Military Park

It was another beautiful yet brutally hot day for the second day of our trip. We got up bright and early and made our way to Gettysburg National Military Park. Now I’m going to be honest, we didn’t spend a lot of time here because we’ve been here a couple of times before and didn’t feel the need to explore the exhibits again. It was a quick pop into the park store for souvenirs, some stamps in our passport, and then part of the driving tour. So this post will mostly just be a photo dump.

Of course we had to hang out with Abe before we started our tour…

Whenever we do this driving tour, we always make sure we stop by our hometown monument – if you look closely, you can see “Oswego” written on the satchel.

The Eternal Light Peace Memorial is stunning. And actually peaceful when we visited. By skipping the exhibits in the Visitor Center we were able to get ahead of the crowds on the driving tour. I highly recommend this strategy if you get to the park around opening time.

And here’s some photo spam from the rest of the tour. I love how dramatic some of the Confederate monuments can be. 😂

We drove over to Eisenhower National Historic Site on our way out of Gettysburg. We had just missed the start of a tour, and didn’t feel like hanging around for the next one, so we drove through the property and grabbed a few pictures. It’s quite a lovely area.

Stay tuned for part 2 of our Sunday!
