My intention had been to put up a basic Lunar New Year post today. Facts about the day, the symbolism of the rabbit, wishing everyone well, etc. You know the drill.
But then somebody in California decided that it would be fun to mark the day by massacring ten people who had been enjoying a Lunar New Year celebration in a Chinese-owned ballroom dance studio, and injuring at least ten others. Because, you know…fireworks, guns, same thing right?
I don’t know how we can keep enduring the gun violence in this country. Have I looked up how to be an ex-pat in another, less violent country? You bet your sweet ass I have. Several times. And each time I look at it more and more seriously. Watching this shit go on day after day, year after year with absolutely nothing being done about it makes me sick and I just want out. I want to live where people are kind to each other. I don’t know where that is, but if you have any suggestions, let me know.
